Dances with the Daffodils

I went to a friend's for lunch today and brought this arrangement from  my garden. Three friends and I meet regularly in an attempt to practice speaking Italian. I told them the history of the bulbs throughout my garden and yard, and they thought it was amazing. If you are new to my blog or don't know the background story of these daffodils, please read my post "Full Circle"; I guarantee that you will enjoy it. Interestingly enough, in that post from 2011 I also had a photo of the wall hanging that  I wrote about yesterday.

The retired English teacher in me would like to point out that the title of today's post, "Dances with the Daffodils," comes from the final line of a lovely William Wordsworth poem; take a moment if you wish to click on "Daffodils" to read it.

Last, my pink chairs are now out; I'm officially declaring that spring has finally arrived!!!

Happy Easter 2014

Emma and I wish you all a very Happy Easter! Buona Pasqua! Miss Emma was groomed on Thursday; doesn't she look beautiful! Below is a similar photo taken two years ago when she was just a few months old.

Earlier this week I finally treated myself to a new camera and long lens, and so I was able to get these quick shots today before she dashed off.

Above she has spotted a squirrel on the fence, and in the blink of an eye she was off and running!!!

As you can see the daffodils recovered nicely from the cold temperatures and the dusting of snow that we awoke to earlier in the week.

Stained glass was another of my hobbies in years past. It always makes smile when I unpack this little purple-coated bunny. I still have the tools and lots of glass. I'm thinking it might be fun to make some little pieces featuring simple quilt patterns. I'll add it to my list of things to do. :-)

It Was All My Fault

I take full responsibility; it was all my fault. If only I hadn't gathered up my boots and boot trays and brought them all down cellar last week. After all, the temperatures had been in the sixties, and it appeared as if the long awaited promise of spring had finally arrived. Well, this morning dawned very cold and there was a dusting of snow on lawns and spring flowers.

Fortunately, both daffodils and pansies are resilient plants, and they will be up and smiling once the sun warms things up.

Signs of Spring

Everyone is feeling just a tad winter weary at this point, so I thought I'd share two photos taken yesterday to reaffirm that spring is truly just around the corner. Midst the snow and ice, this tiny crocus is poking up its head. These daffy daffodils are also about 1.5 inch high. Clearly, they must not have received the memo warning of another snowstorm coming on Monday.

Be sure to click on the crocus photo to see a larger version as it's like a tiny little natural world.

Daffodil Daze

The weather has been absolutely wonderful this past week. Last Saturday,  I attended a party to celebrate the graduation of my cousin's husband who had earned his master's degree. After a week of sadness and fear, it was good to have an afternoon of happiness.

All of my daffodils are now in full glorious bloom, but these particular daffodils were photographed in my friend's front yard. Many of her daffodils had originally come from my garden. They are spectacular! Back in April of 2012, I wrote about how I had first acquired the bulbs many, many years ago. How the gift of the bulbs one day went Full Circle is really quite a story. If you have a moment, click on Full Circle to read the post for April 22, 2011. I guarantee you will enjoy it.
